Fairly Definite Itinerary for the India Study Abroad Semester!

Orientation
December 16        Depart from Lincoln at 6:50am
December 17        Arrive in Hong Kong
December 18        Spend the morning in Hong Kong, Hong Kong International School
December 19        Fly into Dehli and meet Rev. C. David and his wife
December 20        Visit Dehli
December 21        Day trip to Taj Mahal
December 22        Fly to Trivandrum and meet Rev. Norbert, go to the beach at Kovalum
December 22-26   Get acquainted with Nagercoil and the seminary, Celebrate Christmas!
December 26        Depart Nagercoil by bus to Madurai
December 26-28   Arrive in Madurai, get acquainted with the American College
December 28-30   Depart by bus for Brother James' Reaching the Unreached
December 30        Evening bus trip up the mountain to camp out at the Youth Hostel in Kodai
December 31        Orientation at Kodai and a New Year's Eve celebration
January 1              Depart Kodai for Madras and the Madras Christian College
January 1-4           Get acquainted with Madras.  Leaders return to the states.  Students take
                              train back to Nagercoil

Coursework

Jan. 6-Feb. 5        Course in Comparative Religions and an introduction to the Geography of
                              India at Nagercoil, Concordia Seminary

Feb. 8-Mar. 5        Madurai and the American College- A survey course in the Contemporary
                              History of India, taught by professors at the college with a series of guest
                              speakers

Mar. 8-Apr. 9         Course in the Peoples and Cultures of India and the conclusion of
                              Geography of India, taught by Madras Christian College professors.

April 12-23             Social Work Practicum at Mother Theresa's Home for the Destitute and
                              Dying.

April 24                  We head off into the Himilayas, trekking in Nepal, and other fun stuff.

May 2                     We return to the United States!

One final note:  The time in India is 11.5 hours ahead of Central Standard Time.
